I think Ranni as an Empyrean had the fate that she would become a vessel for the Golden Order controlled by her Two Fingers. By approaching her brother Radahn and his holding of the stars did this put a hold to her fate, allowing her enough time to enact a plan to destroy her Empyrean body and then later once her destiny had resumed and she was in her doll body was able to slay her Two Fingers. I honestly think the canon ending of the game, inc DLC is the Age of Stars. Neither Ranni, Radahn or Rykyard had any love for the Golden Order all drawing their power from elsewhere. Ranni through her ending brings an end to godly interference in the Lands Between allowing them to exist without diving interference. I feel the pact with Miquella as promised consort was simply because he was challenged to a battle with Melinia that he could not refuse, and not so much out of love or devotion to Miquella and his cause. The Golden Order is corrupt and from what I've read of the DLC may have been cut off since it's creation from the Greater Will. I wonder if this came to be because of Marika cutting off the Greater Will when she ascended to godhood - the shadow erdtree looks pierced by unalloyed gold. Did she, or later Miquella do something to the tree? Questions, questions, questions....

Very late to the party but for me honestly, I think he's the worst copout addition to the game and completely breaks the immersion for me. It feels like Im playing breath of the wild, and not in a good way. The souls games were always about the very "human" struggle of dragging yourself across a hostile landscape and often having to go the "long" way round because of your limited human abilities (with the possible exception of warping which imo ds1 did the best, though had other failings). Fighting from him feels completely janky and broken, and means bosses have to be rescaled to work with the player having much higher potential mobility which makes it WORSE if you just want to play the game "normally".

The main theme of the Elden Ring universe is curses. For example, Miquella is really a manipulative sociopath. Messmer's serpent dormant in him is devouring him slowly causing him to go blind, and Malenia is rotting inside and she's falling apart. The Greater Will cursed Marika's children because of her incense marriage to Radagon. Marika's marriage to Godfrey their children were curse with omen horns because of the genocide attrocities that Marika did to the primordial beings that grew the Erd-Tree with there blood in the Shadow Lands and in the Lands Between. Watch the trailer what do you see blood, hair, and spiritual energies water the tree to grow.

With the way beings are named “gods” in Elden ring, we can probably assume each was once an empyrean and possibly had an Elden lord. But not sure if the Greater Will made the Elden Ring, than it could’ve had a part in making all outer gods.

I don’t know exactly why but I love the limited story and theories we have of radagon, I get what he did to rennalla is terrible but he had no choice and at least tried to remedy it in a small way even if it didn’t work. To me radagon in his early days was a champion and hero of the golden order, in his midlife a great lord of Marikas kingdom and his late life a husk only trying to hold the Elden ring together, (would love to read a book of the guys life) I think the story of radagon, rennalla, marika and godfrey are definitely something worth digging into more

I had a debate about this with my friend. Truthfully told I have never played elden ring. I am going into college for English literature and education so I want to teach literature. The way they build the world and its lore is very impressive imo. Only the from soft teams can do things like imo despite not playing any of the souls games. If other teams could do this they probably would but they can’t. But the lore isn’t a story, It enhances the story. I appreciate the grounded take you had on this video. Despite loving the lore and the world around it the genuine narrative itself is nothing special. Again I’m not saying that’s a good nor bad thing. But if you want to critically look at a story with a good narrative this game isn’t it.

I’m sorry, but Ronnie’s quest line is not the best ending for elderly not only did she kill Godwin you know the guy who stopped the ancient dragons from wiping them out, and on top of that, he befriended them, and having them join their side she’s also responsible for starting the death Curse when she does get what she wants, she tells us that she’s going to leave the planet and she’s going to let the stars take control and when I mean, stars, I mean the creatures that live inside them to fall upon the land yeah Ronnie I would rather have a Demi god help me fight off the star beasts they doing it by myself thank you but no thank you

With the end point for frenzied ending on how melina starts hunting you kinda reminds me of how she was so dead set on upending the golden order/greater will. I dont really know the lore too deep but maybe shes got beef with greater deities in general since you also made the point the 3 fingers could also be representative of another diety and not just chaos

The frenzied flame has a bit more to it than mentioned, there are videos about how it came to be and the lore of it so I won't delve too much into it. However it was manifested by despair, hate, and other negative emotions. With a simple motive to remove the said emotions from the world, by returning the lands to what they once were previous before the "mistake" that is mentioned. If people know of Warhammer think of it like a Chaos God, you will never truly be rid of it, it is something that mortals unknowingly created.

I’ll be really surprised if a form of these guys in their former glory doesn’t show up in the DLC. They were obviously coerced by Miquella to search for something. They remind me of the exiles and the banished knights, but they don’t use storm ashes of war? Even Godrick uses them. Maybe there’s two birds? One who utilizes ghost flame and the other that uses the storm.

I think a lack of polish on anything but Ranni's ending makes this a hard question to answer. Everything else is just "Which color tree do you want?" if you don't think long and hard about the lore.

I like Duskborn and Stars. Duskborn sounds merciful, everyone suffering finally gets to actually die. Then Stars sounds hopeful, where everyone makes their own path. I’m not that happy that doing the her quest kills two of my favorite NPCs and we put a ring on her but it sounds like the better ending

The reveal halfway through the game is the reveal that Radagon is Marika. The reveal at the end is that The Elden Beast is Radagon. Or Radagon is a spawned consciousness of Marika and the Elden Ring within her. The fickleness of God is that they're no better than men.

I really enjoyed the game, man! I liked it more than some Souls games made by Fromsoft (although that could be recency bias speaking). I hope they make a sequel (one is announced already I think) and this becomes a franchise.

I thought soul of cinder isnt the final boss, sure he is hard to fight but when the credits start It felt anti climatic and I felt a bit empty. I thought there's suppose to be dramatic cutscene first u know, before the "final boss". Doesnt felt too rewarding. I guess the bittersweet ending is thematic to the whole game.

Given the Age of Stars ending emphasizes there will be no direct intervention in the Lands Between, I see the Stellar god (good a name as any) as a symbol for the impersonal cosmic laws that govern Fate and karma. It's even mentioned that stars rule Fate in the game.

A side note. When Morgott loses control of his Omen blood in the second phase of his fight, a few of his attacks have the same red bloodfire associated with Mog's power and the Formless Mother. Since it is unlikely Morgott actively worships the Formeless Mother, there is likely an association with the blood of the Omen and the Formless Mother.
